Weddings & Handbags!
This past weekend I did my first live drawing event at a wedding at a beautiful venue in Buxton in the High Peak called the Old Hall. For the history buffs amongst us, it’s a hotel re-built in 1573, sanctioned by Queen Elizabeth I to provide accommodation for Mary, Queen of Scots during her imprisonment in England. It’s also purportedly the oldest hotel in England! To say the least, an interesting venue.
I had a fantastic time, stretching my live illustrative wings for the first since before the pandemic, for a small wedding party of lovely people. It felt great to finally get my teeth into a job of my relatively new endeavour of live drawing at weddings. I gained a lot and was grateful for the opportunity granted me to learn on the job and I look forward to future events, including weddings and corporate events.
Another venture I’ve gotten up to recently has been long planned but never executed til now. I took the opportunity, whilst feeling a surge of creativity, to paint myself a handbag using Angelus leather paints. I had no plan for this bag so just went with what I was feeling at the time and I’m pleased with the outcome. I’ve shared this bag on facebook to much acclamation, including interest in having me add this skill to my repertoire for customers. So, I plan on making myself available for work painting and bringing new life to both vintage and customers bags. I’ll also be announcing a bit of a collaboration with a sustainable clothing business soon, so keep your eyes on my social media for my information!
